Please also be aware of our inclement weather policy and refund policy and procedures as posted here.
On the day of the competition, please feel free to approach any of the Cheer Evolution Staff should you have any questions or concerns. Prior to the competition day, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for any registration issues, or email@example.com for scheduling and legalities questions.
Athlete Proof of Age Eligibility:
Coaches please be advised that teams may be randomly selected for age verification. We require all coaches/administrators to be able to provide athlete identification (birth certificate, drivers license, passport) in either digital or paper format to verify athletes age eligibility. These personal documents will NOT be collected and kept on file by Canadian Cheer. If requested, coaches will have until 10 minutes prior to their awards to present the required documentation. Photos of original ID’s on cellphones or drives are accepted.
USASF Image Policy
The USASF has implemented a new Image Policy, which will be followed at all CE competitions. The policy has been More information can be found here. The three main image points are outlined here:
- Athletes with non-full top uniforms must wear a t-shirt or other suitable cover up over their uniforms unless they are in the warm-up area, traveling as a group directly to or from the warm up area, or on the performance stage.
- Makeup should be uniform and appropriate for both the performance and the age of the athletes. Face/Eyelid Rhinestones are not allowed. False eyelashes are allowed but may not be decorated in rhinestones or additional jewelry.
- Bows should not be excessive in size (acceptable bows are generally no more than 3” in width) and shouldn’t be a distraction to the performance. Bows should be worn in a manner to minimize risk for the participants, should be adequately secured and should not fall over the forehead into the participants’ eyes or block the view of the participant while performing
Canadian Cheer Videos
Videos of each team will be posted to Youtube under the Canadian Cheer Videos Youtube page. Videos will be posted a week after the event. All runs at the event will be posted to Youtube. Exceptions to this rule, where videos will not be posted to Youtube, include extreme safety infractions and costume malfunctions. You can visit the Canadian Cheer Videos page by clicking here.
The main performance area is located in main bowl of the Meridian Centre. Practice facilities are located in the main bowl, behind the backdrop. The practice area will be closed to all spectators and parents. Athletes will be directed by CE staff to the “on-deck” area of the performance floor.
Schedule of Events
Doors will open at 9:00 am. Please make sure that athletes arrive to the event no earlier than this time and are as performance ready as possible upon arrival.
The tentative performance schedule will be posted here. As changes are made, the schedule will be updated. Please check the website for updates. The most updated version of the schedule will be available for coaches at the event registration table upon check in. Although all Cheer Evolution events are known for being run precisely on-time, unforeseen circumstances sometimes cause times to shift slightly. We will always attempt to ensure that this does not affect any teams negatively.
Spectators and Athletes will be able to enter the building via the North Entrance. Everyone must purchase tickets for the event with the exception of participating athletes and core coaches. Credit and debit will be available but cash is preferred when possible.
There will be an athlete waiting area for athletes that have not received their athlete wristbands from their coaches. Coaches will pick these athlete wristbands up from the registration desk. **Please note athletes and coaches will not be allowed access to the competition without these wristbands. Competitors may have access to the competition area and practice area after their coach has registered the team. Those coaches that have been registered with the team will receive a wristband. All other will have to purchase a spectator ticket.
Parents of young children will be permitted to accompany their children in the athlete waiting area. This will allow parents of the young athletes to wait with their child until the coach arrives.
Food & Concessions
There will be concession stands open on the concourse level of the arena.
Spectators will not be permitted to bring in outside food or drink.
There will be no scheduled coaches meeting at this event. Please alert the registration staff as to any questions you have so that they may contact an event convenor to assist you.
Team Change Rooms
We suggest athletes come dressed in their uniforms as there are no available change rooms at the venue. We encourage teams to use the stands behind the back drop to store belongings.
Practice & Warm-up Area
The warm-up area is located behind the back drop. The practice area will have scheduled times and teams must check-in to the practice gym 40 minutes prior to their performance time. There will be a scheduled rotation beginning with check in 2 minutes before the first mat rotation. From there teams will advance to a 3 strip, non-sprung mat. Following this teams immediately move to a tumble strip, and then to a full 9-mat sprung floor. Teams will then be ushered to the “On Deck” waiting area for 12 minutes before taking the competition floor. Please note that Cheer Evolution staff cannot be held responsible for teams not making it to the performance floor on time if any part of the team chooses to leave the holding area between the last mat and the performance time.
There will be a video replay booth set up for all teams to watch their routine immediately following their performance.
There will be sports therapists as well as emergency response personnel available for the day to ensure that athletes and spectators can be well cared for if necessary. The therapists will have supplies for their use only and will not be supplying them freely. The role of these people is to deal with injuries, not to tape wrists and ankles. Kindly plan to bring your own tape.
Cheer Evolution will not be providing spotters for the event. If coaches feel they should provide their own spotters for the team, please contact Cheer Evolution prior to the event. No deductions will be made for teams providing their own spotters provided these spotters do not provide hands-on assistance. All spotters must complete a waiver form.
Music and Sound Equipment
All music must be in CD or Mp3 format. NOTE: Do not use CD-RW! We are very pleased to have Brandon Larry as the M.C. for the event and overseeing all audio aspects. His exceptional experienced and top quality equipment will ensure each team’s music sounds great.
If using the Mp3 option, please ensure that the track is on its own playlist. It is highly recommended that each team have a back-up copy of the routine CD at the music table in the event that there is a problem with the primary CD or Mp3. It is the responsibility of each team to ensure that their music is error free and plays on the music system. Once the team is positioned at the “in the hole” waiting area, event staff will escort the coach to the music station.
Professional event photography by Captured Moments will be available. All videos will be posted on Youtube, and photos will be posted at https://canadiancheer.smugmug.com/ *Please note, there will not be a photo viewing area at the event.
Event Shirts and Clothing
There will be a variety of clothing items available for purchase at the Pro Cheer Store as well as from vendors. Please be sure to come to the stores to see what’s available.
The judging process will assess the difficulty, execution of choreography and overall effectiveness of each routine using our standardized judging form. There will be a point deduction and legalities judge who will be responsible for assessing point deductions for falls and illegal elements.
